1 out of 5 stars Rubbish!   November 19, 2007

Got this as i didnt want to pay large amounts for an MP3 player, and i always have my DS with me so it seemed to make sense. When it arrived, i took the ugly thing out of the box, put my sd card in which had music already on. When i turned it on it says sd error. When it finally came round to accepting it (so no problems with my sd card then!) The track was very low, very jumpy and of very poor quality. When i read the instruction manual, it gives a short list of what bit rates of mp3's it can accept. (Higher bit rate usually =better quality sound. Most of my MP3's that i have downloaded are at 320kbps, this can support up to only 256kbps) I dont know about everyone else but i prefer my music in high quality, but the book says it cant support any mp3's with a decent quality. Do not buy this product, you will be better of buying a cheap mp3 player.

2 out of 5 stars poor sound quality   June 2, 2007

I am the dad of two young ardent DS fans, who also use mp3 players. So the prospect of holiday trips and long car journeys with a combined game and music device seemed very attractive. But alas! - sound quality is awful and the controls are deadful. A waste of money.

3 out of 5 stars Fair deal in my opinion.   March 21, 2007

Good: br /Use DS speakers for external sound or plug in speakers or headphones for much better quality and the ability to raise volume more. br /Good value for a reliable MP3 player. ( [...] + [...] SD card) br /Can use different SD cards instead of one inbuilt memory. br / br /Bad: br /Does stick out of the DS too much for its own good, but isn't much of a problem unless your picky. br /Doesn't make and use of DS stylus (or second screen) as its a gameboy advance game. br / br /Other notes: br /The display on screen of mario or a stickman doing stuff is nothing special but it's a MP3 player after all so no biggie.

3 out of 5 stars A bit disappointed   January 2, 2007

This product is a great idea. However, I was disappointed when it arrived. It is simply a Game Boy Advance cartridge which means the software does not use any on the DS features, such as the touchscreen. It would have been really cool to have the touchscreen for song selection and the top screen displaying song information etc. Instead you get crude Gameboy graphics on the top screen. Song navigation is just painful. It is also very ugly, especially if you have a white DS. It is black and sticks out of the bottom of the DS by a couple of centimeters. I was hoping that they were going to be able to use the GBA slot in some clever manner to allow the DS to control the playback hardware contained in the cartridge. On the plus side, the sound quality is pretty good. Like I say, a great idea, just a bit poorly executed.
