p"Master of the cruel one-liner"--Evening Standardbr "His eye for absurdity is as sharp as his suits"--Guardian/p pCritically acclaimed comedian Frankie Boyle presents his hotly-anticipated first live stand-up DVD. Recorded live during his sell-out shows at Londonrsquo;s Hackney Empire, Frankiersquo;s unique brand of observational comedy and brutal but perfectly constructed one-liners prove he is one of the best gag writers in the business./p pAs the stand out act on top-rated satirical comedy show Mock The Week, the sharp-suited Scotsman shows us just a slice of what hersquo;s capable of. In this DVD he unleashes his razor-sharp wit upon the audience with jokes that are too near the knuckle for TV, constantly venturing onto thin ice with outrageous jibes that could be utterly offensive if not delivered with equal measures of visceral cheek and sarcasm, demonstrating the full force of his comic prowess./p pExtras:/p F**K You Scotland ndash; behind the scenes tour diarybr Sketches from BBC3 comedy iRush Hour/ibr Drug experiment ndash; additional audio materialbr p/p p/p pCheck out the dates of Frankie's 2008 tour:brbr 01-Oct-08 Crawley - Hawth Theatrebr 03-Oct-08 Edinburgh - Festival Theatrebr 04-Oct-08 Edinburgh - Festival Theatrebr 05-Oct-08 Sheffield - Lyceumbr 06-Oct-08 Harrogate - Harrogate Theatrebr 07-Oct-08 Lincoln - Engine Shedbr 08-Oct-08 Leamington Spa - Royal Spa Centrebr 11-Oct-08 Halifax - Victoria Theatrebr 12-Oct-08 Birmingham - Alexandra Theatrebr 13-Oct-08 Derby - Assembly Rooms - The Great Hallbr 16-Oct-08 Kendal - Lakes Leisurebr 17-Oct-08 Preston - Guildhall Grand Hallbr 18-Oct-08 Aberystwyth - Arts Centrebr 19-Oct-08 Port Talbot - The Princess Royal Theatrebr 21-Oct-08 Northampton - Royal Derngate Theatrebr 22-Oct-08 Bedford - Corn Exchangebr 23-Oct-08 Brighton - Domebr 24-Oct-08 Colchester - Charter Hall, Leisure Worldbr 25-Oct-08 Winsford - Civic Hallbr 26-Oct-08 Buxton - Opera Housebr 28-Oct-08 Dunstable - The Grove Theatrebr 30-Oct-08 Peterborough - Broadway Theatrebr 31-Oct-08 Carlisle - The Sands Centrebr 01-Nov-08 York - Grand Opera Housebr 02-Nov-08 Salford - Lowrybr 03-Nov-08 Hull - City Hallbr 07-Nov-08 Newcastle - City Hallbr 08-Nov-08 Bradford - St Georges Concert Hallbr 09-Nov-08 Southend - Cliffs Pavilionbr 11-Nov-08 Hayes - Beck Theatrebr 12-Nov-08 Cardiff - St David's Hallbr 14-Nov-08 Torquay - Princess Theatrebr 15-Nov-08 Taunton - Wellsprings Leisure Centrebr 17-Nov-08 Leicester - De Montfort Hallbr 18-Nov-08 Cheltenham - Town Hallbr 20-Nov-08 Chatham - Central Theatrebr 21-Nov-08 Stoke-on-Trent - Victoria Hallbr 22-Nov-08 Cambridge - Corn Exchangebr 23-Nov-08 Bristol - Colston Hallbr 25-Nov-08 Basingstoke - The Anvilbr 26-Nov-08 Dorking - Hallsbr 28-Nov-08 Skegness - The Embassybr 29-Nov-08 Oxford - New Theatrebr 03-Dec-08 Telford - Oakengates @ The Placebr 04-Dec-08 Portsmouth - Guildhallbr 06-Dec-08 London - Hammersmith Apollobr 12-Dec-08 Worthing - Assembly Hallbr 13-Dec-08 Wolverhampton - Civic Hallbr

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Hilarious and Disgraceful!   January 7, 2009
G. Pointer (Uk)
I have no idea what all the other reviewers are talking about, this is ridiculously funny. Hes brilliant on Mock The Week, and follows on from it in superb fashion! I dont care if hes reused some gags, since you cant actually buy Mock The Week on DVD, im glad now i can relive some of his best whenever i so wish. br / br /I love his no-holds-barred cruel dark style, many a time i had tears running it was so funny! Jokes about the queen, Diana etc are utterly brilliant. If you appreciate his input on Mock The Week, you WILL enjoy this, especially at the current price!

1 out of 5 stars A Lazy Let Down   January 6, 2009
Mrs. Blake (Dublin)
I have only recently come to know Frankie Boyle's work, on Mock the Week, which I am watching re runs of on Dave every other day. I was impressed by him on the show, and bought this dvd based on this. br /I was stunned by the show, in a bad way, and hardly got a laugh out of it at all. Why? Because I'd say that some 70% of the material is recycled stuff from Mock the Week. I was really annoyed actually! I noticed a lot of the audience shown weren't laughing either, imagine going to a comedy gig to hear the same gags you've heard on television. I think it's a poor show, in more ways than one. br /If you've seen Mock the Week on a regular basis, don't waste your time or money with this.

3 out of 5 stars Not As Good As It Should Have Been   January 5, 2009

Frankie Boyle is a regular on Mock The Week, and I've always enjoyed his banter on there - his speedy responses on the show make his seat valuable to the BBC. Yes, he's very controversial, and has even been quoted by Emily Maitlis when discussing the level of humour on the network, but I think it's more about his delivery of his jokes than what he says. br / br /This is the show he did in Hammersmith - and it's really mediocre - I like the interaction with the audience, but the jokes are just recycled Mock The Week jokes, like how many more times is he going to tell the brassier joke? br / br /If you enjoyed his comedy on Mock The Week, I think it's a 50/50 thing - some of you will love it, others - like me will be disappointed it wasn't better and had more jokes. The redeeming feature about this DVD is the Rush Hour sketches he did for the BBC 3 show, he's an obnoxious car repair man who just winds people up. br / br /I think this isn't a bad DVD to rent, just wouldn't bother buying it, it has little value to return to and once you've seen it you'll probably remember the jokes. br / br /I am hoping Hugh and Russell's DVDs are better, was also hoping for an Andy Parsons one.

5 out of 5 stars What are you people on about   January 3, 2009

I have just watched the Russell Howard DVD and it was so boring, he uses just as much if not more material from Mock the Week. br /This Frankie Boyle DVD had me laughing out loud many times, I borrowed it off a friend and watched it one afternoon and I knew what bits I had heard before off Mock the Week but there was still a good deal of material that had me rolling. br /It's offensive yes, and he insults the crowd, so what. If its funny who cares...

3 out of 5 stars definitely disappointing   January 3, 2009
L. Bretherton (Tiverton, Devon)
hmm, well, I too have laughed like a drain at Frankie on MTW, but this DVD leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. Much of the material is familiar, much of it is a tad offensive, but not outrageously so. The man just comes across as having ZERO charisma or connection with his audience, it feels like he's on stage to do a job and make his money and go home. While the DVD will make you laugh in places, it will not leave you gasping for breath like Bill Bailey or Eddie Izzard.
