This phone is a complete mess. It would be better to use the pony express because this thing will not work when you need it to. br / br /1.) It powers itself off for no apparent reason, one day I watched this happen at least 15 times and I wasn't even touching it. br /2.) The phone freezes all of the time, which requires that you take off the back and pull out the battery, and that eventually created space between the back cover and the phone. And this is very inconvenient when in the middle of a call! br /3.) Communicating with the network is an issue when texting. Half of the time I wouldn't receive texts for hours then all of a sudden some would "transfer from my sim card." br /4.) And currently I have no phone because the darn thing will not come on at all. br /5.) After going through three phones in the span of two weeks all that ATT could offer me was the Motorola Q9H, Pantech Duo, and the Blackjack 2, all of which have the EXACT same issues as the fricking Centro I already have. Apparently I could not get a Blackberry because it isn't considered a smartphone, even though ATT's website says otherwise. br / br /And after talking to a few other Centro owners, I discovered that these problems aren't just happening to me, the phone is a complete piece of junk. br / br /Needless to say DO NOT BUY this sorry sac of Centro!!!

I have been using my Centro for coming up on a year now. br / br /What I wish were different: br /I wish it were a flip. I enjoy the way flip-phones cradle the face, and find bar phones unaccommodating, ergonomically. br /I wish I could use MP3 ringtones, without installing 3rd party software (such as Ringo, which may thoroughly befuddle your Centro as it did mine. Deleted promptly.) br /WiFi would be a delight. br /A dedicated GPS would be even more of a delight. br / br /Still, there is much to appreciate, particularly in side by side comparisons with the other available offerings: br /The rubbery texture of the keys make them reasonably usable, despite their tininess. br /It will sync with my Mac. Not just everyone makes that consideration. br /And here is the biggest thing, which will keep me loyal to Palm regardless of how cool your iPhones and Dares with their magic screens seem, in theory-- br /A mother lode of software downloads! Not sure how I did without QuikBudget, Scrabble, and Ultralingua Spanish-English and French-English dictionaries (never want to be without those again.) There is not, as far as I know, another smartphone platform so useful to the geek who wants a phone customized to his/her own geekiness. br /Overall, this little gizmo performs wondrous feats for something I tuck in my pocket. br / br /

I went to this from an Ipaq. The Ipaq was OK, but not easy to dial while driving (pretty much impossible to do safely), and kind of big for me to just put in a pocket or even on a clip. I got tired of it after about 8 months, and updated to this. br / br /I find the ease of use of this unit and it's efficient use of size more than makes up for the major features it is missing, which is WiFi and GPS.

As a devoted Palm user for over a decade I found this model terribly disappointing. In a side-by-side reception comparison with my venerable Treo 650 the Centro is worse by 2-3 bars. Perhaps as a result the Centro drains the battery completely within a day, just on standby(!). I had ATT replace the unit twice, and also bought an extended-life battery -- same problems. ATT then replaced the SIM card for good luck -- no improvement. So, the problems are extremely unlikely to be due to unit defects. Based on this experience I suggest avoiding the Centro like the plague, unless you work and live atop an ATT cell station.

the SMARTphone isn't so smart .... it doesn't have something so basic as a regular alarm clock!!!! if u want to set an alarm, u have to use the calendar (which clutters it up!) if u want a repeating alarm. if u set it with the world time option, it will only work for the next 24 hours, after which u need to set it again!!! pretty dumb, i think. if the manufacturer could put a gazillion other features in the phone, surely they could put in a regular alarm clock!! i wasn't looking into using the phone for internet so i had few qualms about returning it within a week! it was a really sleek, nice-looking phone though. its pix don't do it justice!
