Excellent Drive for the money August 27, 2008 Andy Z (Atlanta, GA USA) Small, easy to use and inexpensive -- what more could you ask for? Works great all the time. The only thing I don't like is the fact that the case scratches very easy.
Excelente Producto August 27, 2008 Marcos Benites Donoso (Guayaquil, Ecuador) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Las verdad que este producto lleno mis expectativas, es bastante durable, ya que tipico que este tipo de dispositivos se golpean por accidente. Lo unico malo es que se raya con facilidad.
Great Value, Highly Recommended August 27, 2008 kelly (USA) I bought this 2 months ago based on my good experience with the WD Passport 80HD that I had since last July. This is a very pretty and reliable portable drive. The essential version is slightly thicker than the old version, but as pretty. I traveled a lot and always carry these drives in the laptop bag. A lot of throwing around, no problems. The transfer speed is ok. I had other drives before(such as Simpletech, a piece of crap), Western Digital is the way to go.
Great little Drive August 27, 2008 S. Batson If you are looking at this drive, look at all the good ratings and ignore the whiners that either don't know how to use the drive, or are expecting more than it was designed for. It's Small, it's compact, doesn't need a power cord and works with most computers equipped with a USB port. What more can you ask? My thinking is that if you buy this drive and are going to throw it around and mistreat it, or you want the speed of a an internal drive, than you aren't going to be happy. For anyone else looking for a nice USB drive, this one works great. I have to wonder if the people that whined about it being slow were plugged into a USB 1.0 or USB 1.0 Hub.
Convenient and ecofriendly August 26, 2008 Brian D. Ashman (Saint Paul, MN United States) I wasn't really looking for such a nice looking drive to stuff in my pocket. I wanted a fast energy efficient and durable drive on which to backup an iMac. That means 480Mb/s using USB2 because my iMac has no eSATA, FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b), nor even Gigabit Ethernet port. I don't care to install a PCI card with such. I looked at rugged drives and green drives that are faster, but I'm limited to 480 Mb/s (60MB/s) anyway. This is hot swappable and uses less than the 2.5W available via my USB 2.0 port (500mA at 5W). This drive is very quiet (quieter than my iMac). The 1 ft cord provided is too short to seriously tangle. A finger on the drive can sense vibration, but it doesn't vibrate any table I've used. My last backup external drive was accidentally pulled off a counter by the data cord. Now that I realize how absent minded I can be, the ease of putting this drive in a safe place is not merely a travel feature.
